1 hour ~ flashback friday


Seven months and one day ago this photo was taken. It was exactly one hour after Nathan was born, but I wasn't there. I was in surgery getting my womb sorted out.  

I am sad that I missed this time with my son, but I am grateful that my husband was with him during these first precious moments. Nathan wasn't alone.  

I am also happy that my husband took a ton of photos while I was in surgery - including this one. Just look at Nathan's little outstretched toes and his squished face! My birth might not have been perfect, but he was.

    I'm sorry that you had a tough birth. This is a lovely photo though, he looks so snuggly and warm under those towels.
    It's great that your husband was with him whilst you were in surgery.

    that is just such a precious photo - his little squished face is so beautiful. i am so sorry that you werent with him at the time (I will read your story in a moment) but thank goodness for cameras. i love the large hand next to your adorable baby.

    That's such a lovely photo. I had time away from my son after he was born (had to go to theatre to be stitched) and I remember being so glad my partner was looking after him. When we talked about it afterwards he confessed to not really having a clue what to do but he did a great job.
