day out ~ pub lunch

Last night, Mr M and I had our first date night since baby Nate was born. It was just what we needed. We had an amazing time stuffing ourselves with Italian food and wine! 

Today we didn't have anything in the house for lunch and even though we were still kinda full from date night we decided to go out for a pub lunch because...why not? So after Nate's swim lesson we headed out to one of our favourite pubs on the river Deben. 

It was a lovely afternoon so I thought I would share some of our photos.

It was freezing outside and the usually filled picnic tables were empty.

The fish and chips were fried in beer batter. Does it get any better than that?

Nate was very well behaved and tried fish, chips and peas for the first time. He liked it all.

He still hasn't perfect his wave yet but he is getting there.

1 hour ~ flashback friday

Seven months and one day ago this photo was taken. It was exactly one hour after Nathan was born, but I wasn't there. I was in surgery getting my womb sorted out.  

I am sad that I missed this time with my son, but I am grateful that my husband was with him during these first precious moments. Nathan wasn't alone.  

I am also happy that my husband took a ton of photos while I was in surgery - including this one. Just look at Nathan's little outstretched toes and his squished face! My birth might not have been perfect, but he was.

the gallery: picture postcard

The theme for this week's Gallery is Picture Postcard. This photo of Marrakesh is a few years old and nothing to do with my pregnancy journey at all, but I couldn't resist digging it out from the photos on my computer and using it for this week's post. I hope you don't mind. 

I went to Marrakesh with my good friend in September 2010 and we wandered the narrow, busy streets in awe for 3 days. Towards the end of one particularly hectic and hot day we stumbled into the Djemaa El Fna square  in the center of the city and found a shabby cafe  to drink some tea and relax. Little did we know it was the perfect location to watch the sunset over the square. 

As the sun went down, the portable restaurants starting popping up one by one and we literally watched the square come to life! I like this photo because the colours are so vibrant and the Atlas mountains can be seen in the background. It's my personal picture postcard.

the gallery: action

I haven't been the most active person in my pregnancy, especially since my legs started going all weird and tingly. With this in mind, I was hoping my Saturday morning ante-natal yoga class would get my blood pumping a little.... but it was cancelled at the very last minute. 


As I sat in my living room feeling sorry for myself because I had no class to attend and Mr M was out on a bike ride and wouldn't be back for hours, Sasha stared up at me with her cute cocker spaniel eyes and I knew just what to do! Luckily the sun was shining at that moment so I found Sasha's favourite rope ball and we ran out to the garden to have some play time. 

We spent a good 45 minutes together with the ball. I would throw it and Sasha would run to get it then whip it around her head viciously, whacking herself on her back, her sides, the top of her head. Bailey sat himself in the sun next to me and observed with amusement. It was fun and active and a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

the gallery: at peace

The theme for this week's gallery is At Peace. 

As I stated on my very first post, Mr M and I recently went on an indulgent spa break in Surrey - our last holiday on our own before baby M arrives. 

The entire trip was incredibly peaceful, helped by the sunny weather and the fact that we stayed in bathrobes more or less all day. This photo was taken from the window of our room - isn't the view divine? I really felt at peace here, and fully enjoyed the quality time with hubby before our little man comes along this summer.

the gallery: extreme close up

I took this photo of Bailey a few months ago and think he looks absolutely adorable with his wispy eyelashes and quirky expression. 

In many respects I consider Bailey to be my first baby. Mr M and I got him as a puppy shortly after I moved to the UK, so he has been with us through everything.

When the new baby boy comes along I know it might be a struggle to spend quality time with Bailey while dealing with a demanding infant. I only hope Bailey understands how much he means to me.
